Calgary’s Premier Masters Nordic Ski Club

Be the Best By Learning From the Best

At Space Dogs, we're passionate about helping you make real ‘strides’ in your skiing technique, confidence, and overall fitness.

At our club, we welcome adult skiers of all abilities and backgrounds with cross-country lessons tailored to your needs. However, what truly sets us apart is our exceptional racing program—one of the best in Canada.

Our club stands as the most comprehensive masters ski club in Canada, offering a level of coaching talent that is unmatched by any other ski program in the country. An impressive 90% of our coaches are former elite-level racers, including National Ski Team members and international and Olympic competitors. Many of our coaches are also among the top instructors in Canada, playing a key role in developing other instructors and shaping the curriculum with CANSI, Canada’s leading instructor certification organization.

Our passion lies in supporting our skiers on their journey of self-improvement. The skiers we coach serve as inspiration and role models to their communities, families, and fellow skiers. We are committed to quality and excellence in everything we do, and our club culture reflects a positive, supportive attitude and a strong work ethic.

Our masters race program is truly special and best-in-class. We are setting the standard for masters training and racing development, and we are proud to see other local adult ski programs try to imitate our success. Imitation is, after all, the sincerest form of flattery! We also continuously innovate within our club, introducing new initiatives such as professional ski waxing race support, a dedicated club wax room, team training camps, clinics, mentorship for young coaching talent, and lactate and threshold testing.

Where We Train

Our training sessions take place at Calgary’s Confederation Golf Course on weeknights, accommodating all groups and Foundations lessons. On Saturdays, our season-long groups enjoy skiing at premier locations such as Canmore Nordic Centre, PLPP, Kananaskis, Banff area trails, West Bragg, and Lake Louise. To fully benefit from these sessions, we highly recommend purchasing a Canmore Nordic Ski Pass and the Kananaskis Conservation Annual Pass.

In addition to skiing, we offer ski-specific strength training at a private backyard outdoor gym in the Sunnyside/Kensington neighborhood. When temperatures drop below -20°C or if snow is lacking, we switch to alternative indoor workouts, including coached Long Track Speed skating at the Oval, which is highly beneficial for improving skate skiing technique and overall balance.

About Training

We offer a range of skiing opportunities, including three levels of season-long programs, Foundations 4-week courses for both Skate and Classic skiing, and private ski lessons. We pride ourselves on providing the best skier-to-coach ratio among adult ski programs in Calgary, ensuring a highly individualized approach for all participants.

For our season-long programs, you'll have access to multiple accomplished coaches who cater to different learning styles, along with weekly group training summaries and regular feedback on your progress. Every workout session focuses on technique improvement, complemented by ski-specific strength training at our private outdoor gym when skiing isn't possible. Our community fosters growth and camaraderie through ski waxing clinics, access to our club waxroom at the Canmore Nordic Centre, and professional ski waxing support at key Alberta and BC race events. Engage in group discussions and peer support on our team Discord channel, and join us for an optional ski camp weekend at Lake Louise from January 24-26, 2025.
